In 2006, Canada produced 11.0 million cubic meters of propane. Eighty seven per cent was extracted from natural gas, and the rest came from crude oil. The total is approximately five per cent of the world's supply. Thirty-four per cent of propane demand was for consumption in Canada, while the other 66 per cent was for export, mostly to the USA.
